BEEN A WHILE

I haven't posted in a while... so here are some pictures of some of the goings on in the shop. I have been doing a lot of finishing work... french polishing repair and spraying "lacquer" for other luthiers plus the occasional repair work. I have also been trying to spend a bit of time each month to do a few shop improvements. I got rid of some old cabinets I had hanging on the wall and replaced them with some simple tool hanging and holding boards. I also built a scrap wood bin to help me keep all the wood scrap piles from getting too big and put some storage in the stairwell. I made some mini planes a while back and may try to make some more this summer. I have been experimenting and evolving some bracing too. Pictures are below.

A classical guitar with no back showing the bracing on the top
Small wood plane and center strip of guitar
The underside of a classical guitar top showing the bracing.
Two shelves with burl wood pieces, photo of lumberjacks, and guitar making supples.

Here are a few pictures of the most recent completed instruments including two spec guitars for the coming summer music festivals and guitar exhibits. I will take these to the upcoming 2018 NW Handmade Musical Instrument Exhibit at Marylhurst University and then out to the Koblenz International Guitar festival in a few weeks.

Here are the websites for those shows:
